Hitting those Macros!

Now, most people would argue… “It’s ‘flexible dieting,’ not ‘flexible eating.'”
Well I don’t think anything should be considered a “diet” especially if it ISN’T! When it comes to eating for nutrition and health, you shouldn’t be have the mentality of “this is a diet.”

So what exactly is flexible eating? Well it’s a concept well explained over at IIFYM.COM, but basically you can eat whatever you want as long as you stay within your personal macronutrient needs. Now I use the term “eat whatever you want” loosely. Yes you can eat 7 cheeseburgers and hit your macronutrients…but your not getting the micronutrients your body needs to function properly and smoothly. That’s where IIFYM can go wrong. Or at least people who don’t educate themselves and just want to eat unhealthy. Really one should eat a well balanced meal every single day full of vegetables, healthy fats, protein rich foods (animal product if your a omnivore or plant based protein if your vegetarian/vegan) as well as grains and whole wheat.
For someone like me, I love meat but I don’t eat it every single day. So protein is hard for me to get into my system. So I do look for alternatives whether that’s protein powder, protein bars, or tofu.
Which brings me to this little gem. I found out about Chike when I was reading Stuftmama and her review on it. I thought I’d give it a try. And BOY O BOY did I fall in love! I normally don’t drink coffee related anything on the weekdays but when it came in the mail yesterday…I HAD to try it and review myself!
Down to the nitty-gritty…it really just tastes like coffee flavored whey protein. I’ve tried enough whey protein to have leverage on this opinion. I mean even the ingredients say “whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate.” So I guess its a given. But what I like about it is that its pretty low on fat. The reason why I stay away from coffee during the week is the notorious flavored creamer! It stacks up about the same but Chike has more protein per serving, a TON more protein! And like I mentioned before, I don’t eat meat regularly so getting in as much protein as I can from other sources is important for me. Now I still will only drink this on the weekend since it does contain some caffeine (another reason why I keep coffee to the weekends) But I do recommend it!
